1. How do I become a Course Provider?
A course provider may be a teacher, a school district, a community school, an institution of higher education, or a non-profit or for-profit course provider that has courses ready to be offered online. (If you want to be a course provider, but don't have courses ready to deliver, please contact us.) A course provider should click on the Course Provider Sign-up via this website to submit an online application. Upon submittal of the application and verification of email, the application will be forwarded to the Chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents for approval. The application will be reviewed for compliance with state law and regulations surrounding the Distance Learning Clearinghouse. When a decision is reached an email will be sent to the prospective course provider informing the course provider of the decision. Should the application be denied, the prospective course provider will receive an explanation for the denial and an opportunity to make corrections or clarifications and re-submit.

2. Who approves me to be a Course Provider?
The Chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents is responsible for reviewing the Course Provider applications.

3. How do I put courses into ilearnOhio?
After being approved as a course provider, an email will be sent with log-in information. The log-in information will include a password which provides access to the course approval application. Once you have a log-in username and password, you can log-in from any of the high school level web pages

4. How do my courses get approved to be in the catalog?
An approved course provider will be required to complete a course approval application with all of the required information, including a syllabus and alignment document, for each course the course provider wishes to offer via ilearnOhio.

5. What if I don't have an alignment document for my course?
An alignment document which demonstrates how the course is aligned to the Ohio Academic Content Standards is required prior to the course being approved as a course to be offered via ilearnOhio. Many colleges and universities or other organizations will perform this task for a fee. If a course provider needs assistance with obtaining an alignment document, please contact us. An alignment document is not necessary for Advanced Placement courses accredited by the College Board. Such courses are considered to be aligned by virtue of their approval by the College Board.

6. Is the school or the parent responsible for paying for the course?
The course provider can expect to be paid via its normal procedures. Therefore, if a school district registers its students it would provide whatever documentation the course provider requires and the course provider would require payment as it does in the normal course of business. If a student (or a parent/guardian on behalf of a student) is enrolling in the course, regardless of the student's enrollment status, the responsibility for payment rests with the student or parent/guardian

7. Do I have to provide a teacher?
Courses listed in the ilearnOhio catalog are full service courses. The Course Provider is responsible for providing a teacher.

8. What if my teacher is licensed by a different state?
Each course published in the catalog must be taught by a highly qualified licensed teacher, licensed in the content area and grade level they are teaching.

9. May I have students registered through my website in the same class with those students who registered through ilearnOhio?
Students registered through different portals may be enrolled in the same class

10. May I cancel a course if the enrollment is too low?
A course provider may cancel a scheduled class if the enrollment is too low only after certain criteria have been met. A Course Provider needs to inform the ilearnOhio staff at [email protected] as soon as possible of the request to cancel a class, stating how many students are currently enrolled and how many students are required to fiscally be able to run the course. If the class is cancelled, a full refund must be given to each school, student or parent/guardian who registered for the course via ilearnOhio.

11. Is there a common withdrawal policy for the ilearnOhio or may I use our Course Provider policy?
Each course provider may decide its own withdrawal policy and must be willing to work with students, schools and parents/guardian(s) to utilize it. The policy must be specified in writing and must be made available to students prior to registration. However, for students enrolled in a school, community school or STEM school, the student must be permitted to withdraw from the course prior to the end of the course by a date and in a manner prescribed by the student's school district, community school or STEM school.

12. How often will the catalog be updated with any new course changes I make?
A course provider may make minor changes to course information that will not impact students taking the course. Minor changes will become active within a few hours. Any major changes to the course information will require submission to the Chancellor for approval and the information will take several days to be updated in the catalog

13. Are there fees associated with listing my courses on ilearnOhio?
At this time we are not charging fees to list courses on the ilearnOhio.

14. Am I required to report any information back to the ilearnOhio staff?
iLearnOhio requires that you regularly report the number of students you sign up that were referred to you through ilearnOhio. Also, to the extent iLearnOhio pays for Advanced Placement courses, the course provider is required to report on such information on a quarterly basis to iLearnOhio, including but not limited to course titles, number of enrolled students per course, and pass/fail rates. All reporting will be done in a manner that is consistent with state and federal law including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
